Eid al-Adha Prayer and Celebration

Due to several verifiable sightings of the new crescent of Dhul Hijjah on August 12, first of Dhul Hijjah will be on Monday, August 13th with Eid al-Adha falling on Wednesday, August 22.

SBIA adheres to the traditional principle that Islamic lunar months begin and end based on the confirmed, verifiable naked-eye sighting of the new crescent moon globally.

The Day of `Arafah: The 9th of Dhu’l Hijjah and The Takbirs of Eid

The 9th of Dhu’l Hijjah is known as ‘the Day of `Arafah,’ because the pilgrims at Hajj gather at `Arafah in worship, which is one of the three central integrals of the Hajj rituals. Its importance is such that the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, “Hajj is `Arafah.”

Also remember to perform sacrifice if an individual meets the conditions of nisab. If unable to perform themselves, one can either contact a local halal butcher, or do it through any Islamic charity that offers the service.
