Due to lack of verifiable naked-eye sighting of a new crescent moon, Ramadan will begin on SundayJune 29 — First Taraweeh will be on the evening of Saturday, June 28

South Bay Islamic Association adheres to the traditional principle that Islamic lunar months begin and end based on the confirmed, verifiable naked-eye sighting of the new crescent moon.

Qualified Muslim astronomers and reliable visibility forecasts indicate that on Friday evening, June 27th a naked-eye (unaided) sighting of the new crescent moon is extremely improbable in all global regions, with the exception of the remote South Pacific where sightings are possible but highly unlikely.
