Topic 1: Zaytuna College: An Idea Whose Time Has Come
Speaker: Omar Nawaz, VP of Administration, Zaytuna College, Berkeley, CA
ABSTRACT: Islam has never become rooted in a particular land until that land began producing its own religious scholars. There are several million Muslims in the United States, yet there are no accredited Muslim institutions of Higher Learning that can train students in the varied sciences of Islam. Zaytuna College’s vision is to fill this gap. Zaytuna College aims to educate and prepare morally committed professional, intellectual, and spiritual leaders, who are grounded in the Islamic scholarly tradition and conversant with the cultural currents and critical ideas shaping modern society. This presentation will update people on the latest developments at Zaytuna College.
Topic 2: How to get into Harvard
Speaker: Jamal Khan, Harvard Law School
ABSTRACT: Jamal, a child of our community who has been admitted to Harvard Law School, will speak about some general principles that students can follow to achieve academic success. He will also have suggestions for parents to help motivate their children to prioritize and plan ahead for their future. As an illustrative example, Jamal will draw from his own experiences, from childhood through college, as a GATE student, Valedictorian, Triple Major with Honors from UC-Berkeley, and 99 percentile in Nationwide LSAT Score, which have culminated in an admission offer from a world class university.

ABSTRACT:The presentation would be to describe the IB Diploma Program offered at SJHA. It will detailed “How the IB program prepares students for college”. Why an IB education is the best high school diploma educational program available. I.B. Diploma graduates can earn college credits while in high school. Students and parents will be available for questions and answers.
