SBIA and SEMAH Invite You to Participate in the 3rd
Annual ESSAY COMPETITION 2010
OPEN TO ALL San Francisco Bay Area CHILDREN from AGE 5 to 18
Deadline to Submit: May 14th, 2010
Topic: Experiencing emotions is a normal part of being human. One emotion that we have all experienced is ANGER.
Please describe a time when you were angry and what steps you took that helped you get through your anger. If you can’t think of an example for yourself, can you think of a time when you observed others who were angry and positive steps they took to resolve their anger?
Essay Length: Up to five hundred words/or single page drawing (allowed for 3rd grade and younger participants)
Categories: (provided that there are sufficient number of entries in each category) – K-1st grade; Grades 1 -3; Grades 4-6; Grades 7-9; Grades 10-12
Awards: For each category, the award for first place is $100, second place is $75 and third place is $50, for special award winners $20 each.
ENTRIES MUST INCLUDE: FULL NAME, GRADE OF THE CHILD, PARENT CONTACT INFORMATION (e-mail and phone number) and SCHOOL or ORGANIZATION through which your child learned about this competition.
ALL ESSAYS MUST BE SUBMITTED VIA EMAIL.

The AWARD CEREMONY will be at the SBIA Masjid on May 29th, 2010 at 5:30PM. All awards will be given in person and all the award winners and their families will be joining us for dinner afterwards.
