Journey to Mecca is an IMAX® dramatic and documentary feature that tells the amazing story of Ibn Battuta, the greatest explorer of the Old World, following his first pilgrimage between 1325 and 1326 from Tangier to Mecca.

His perilous journey resonates with adventure while presenting an unforgettable picture of Islamic civilization during the 14th century, culminating with Ibn Battuta’s first Hajj. The story is book-ended by a close-up look at the contemporary Hajj, a pilgrimage to Mecca that draws three million Muslims from around the world.

Reflection From The Meccan Years

Shaykh Muhammad Ninowy & Shaykh Alaeddin El-Bakri
March 27th & 28th – 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM At the MCA (3003 Scott Blvd, Santa Clara, CA 95054)

And Muhammad is His Messenger…It is a phrase we say everyday, flowing off our tongues so easily and habitually that all too often we never stop for a moment to ask ourselves, what does it really mean?

We might have thought we have heard about the Seerah of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam)before, but have we? If the Seerah we have heard before is just a story to us, and nothing more, then we have not truly heard it. If our eyes do not shed tears pondering over his life, then we do not truly know him. If our spirits and moral character are not uplifted learning from his life and example, then we have not experienced the Seerah.

Join Al-Madina Institute instructors Shaykh Muhammad Ninowy and Shaykh Alaeddin El-Bakri, in “And Muhammad is His Messenger – Reflections From The Meccan Years”, as they dive into the treasures of the Seerah. Emphasizing the relevance the events of the Seerah have in our own personal journey towards our Creator, “And Muhammad is His Messenger” focuses on internalizing the Seerah and applying it to our everyday life, while cultivating the immense love for the Prophet that is necessary for its proper application.

Learn how the Seerah speaks to your heart and how the life story of our Prophet Muhammad, sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, can transform our own lives in this world and the next.

April 1, 2010 is The National Census Day.
As you know, the Census-2010 is in progress. It happens only once in 10 years. When you receive the census form, please fill it out and mail it in. It is important that we, as Muslims and/or minority groups, complete those forms accurately and send them in because many policy decisions, fund allocations to the cities and counties, as well as election redistricting decisions will be based on the data collected in those forms. In addition, if you receive visitors at home from the Census Bureau, please help them get an accurate count and accurate information. Before you accept anybody into your house however, please ask and view their badges and documents carefully. For more information, please visit: http://2010.census.gov/2010census/

A celebration of the life of Muhammad (peace be upon him)
The Power of One
How one sincere heart aligned with God can transform our world

Speakers: Shaykh Hamza Yusuf, Imam Zaid Shakir, Imam Tahir Anwar & Ustadh Yahya Rhodus
Featuring: Sidi Abdul Kareem & The Bay Area Munshidun
Hosted by: Ali Ataie

Over 1,400 years ago the heavens and the earth celebrated the announcement of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). They rejoiced in the arrival of the long awaited “Chosen One,” who was to be the perfect manifestation of Allah’s mercy on earth and a beacon of light for humanity. He was and still remains the paragon of creation and is without question the greatest blessing and bounty that humanity has received from the Creator.

In recognition of this divine blessing, Muslims have celebrated his birth for centuries with reverence and gratitude. These celebrations, also known as Mawlid al-Nabi, vary in form, expression and duration across the many cultures of the Muslim world. In the Indian subcontinent, the Mawlid is celebrated throughout the city squares with melodious singing in praise of the Prophet (peace be upon him) accompanied by food and sweets.

In Indonesia, large processions involving hundreds of thousands of believers are held along the country’s main roads as an expression of love for the Prophet (peace be upon him). The Moroccans host large feasts and recite lines of classical poetry in his honor. Similar practices and traditions have developed throughout other parts of the Muslim world further infusing cultures and people with a deep-seated respect and reverence for him. No matter how these celebrations take place, one thing is certain, in celebrating his birth, his legacy and his life the Muslim community at large continues to strengthen its connection to him and thus God.

Please join us for a night of inspiration as we continue to carry on this timeless tradition. We look forward to seeing you for an evening filled with poetry, praise and reflections from our dear scholars!
