Ramadan at SBIA

Start of Ramadan

South Bay Islamic Association adheres to the traditional principle that Islamic lunar months begin and end based on the confirmed, verifiable naked-eye sighting of the new crescent moon. Due to multiple such sightings, Ramadan will begin Monday, June 6, with first Taraweeh on Sunday, June 5.

Childcare

Arrangements will be available each night. We encourage the community to use this facility in order to make the Taraweeh prayers a pleasant experience for all.

Taraweeh Prayers

InshaAllah, we will have 20 rakah taraweeh prayer each night at SBIA. Taraweeh will be led at Masjid al Mustafa by Qari Zakariae El Mekkaoui and Hafidh Zain Abaumer. Khatm Qur’an at Masjid al-Mustafa will be on the last weekend of Ramadan (date to be announced once the day of 1st Ramadan is confirmed). At SBIA Downtown, the Taraweeh will be led byHafidh Hassan Haq and Hafidh Sufiyan Tihami. Khatm at Downtown will be on the night of 25th Ramadan.

Iftar

Alhamdulillah, the community has stepped up and sponsored iftar at Masjid al-Mustafa for the whole month. We will have daily iftar for singles and community iftar on Saturdays at Masjid al Mustafa.

We will only have singles iftar at Downtown. We have many spots open for sponsorship ($1000 per iftar). We encourage the community to help raise funds for this activity.
