United For Service: International Service Opportunities For Muslim Youths
Moniza Masud, Marketing Manager of UFS
 
Abstract:   Moniza is a Bay Area native and joined United For Service back in December upon her graduation from UC Davis. She serves as the Marketing Manger for UFS – a service organization dedicated to instilling leadership amongst Muslim Youths in North America by hosting summer and winter Islamic Focused Volunteer Abroad opportunities. Moniza will be presenting on United For Service, our global volunteer programs in Morocco, India and Mexico as well as touching base on our internships, chapter opportunities and ways to get involved. 

Raising Muslims in America
Usama Canon, Founding Director of Ta’leef Collective
 
Abstract:  Born and raised in California, Usama Canon embraced Islam in 1996 and has been a student of the tradition ever since, studying various Islamic Sciences under some of today’s foremost scholars. He served as Outreach Director and an Arabic Instructor at Zaytuna College, as well as a Muslim Chaplain for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. As the Founding Director of Ta’leef Collective, he assists the community at large and provides programming for families, youths and converts. He is also a spiritual advisor to the Inner-City Muslim Action Network (IMAN). In this presentation, he will advise the community about the challenges in raising Muslim children in America and how to properly provide care for the Muslim community.
